The Hosts of "Reframing Motherhood"

Dr. Marti Erickson
Marti
is a developmental psychologist who’s had a long and distinguished career at the University of Minnesota, studying parent-child relationships, helping professionals learn best practices for working with children and families, and writing and speaking to diverse audiences throughout the U.S. and abroad. In the early 1990s Marti’s work caught the attention of Vice President Al Gore, who engaged Marti to help lead his family policy initiative, Family Re-Union, throughout his term of office. With a strong interest in the health and well-being of children and parents around the world, Marti currently is co-leading a child rights training initiative for health and education professionals in Tanzania.

Marti is familiar to Minnesota audiences for her frequent appearances on Twin Cities TV and radio, including 13 years as a regular contributor to KARE-TV’s Today and Sunrise Shows. And she frequently is a source for national media on a wide range of parenting topics. In 2005 Marti led “The Motherhood Study,” a large national study of mothers’ values, concerns and needs, which helped launch conversations among mothers’ groups around the country. Identifying motherhood as a passion in both her professional and personal life, Marti says her most important credential is being the mother of Erin and Ryan, now young adults, and the grandmother of three. Marti co-hosts (along with her daughter) the weekly radio program "Good Enough Moms", heard 2pm – 4pm Sundays in the Twin Cities, broadcast on FM107.1 "Living Life Out Loud.”

Erin and her husband, a busy surgeon, have a 3-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Clara, and a 2-year-old son, McKinley. Erin is in the thick of many of the issues this show addresses – and she’s glad her mom lives close en ough to help and support her in her journey as a mother. Erin co-hosts (along with her mom Marti) the weekly radio program "Good Enough Moms", heard 2pm – 4pm Sundays in the Twin Cities, broadcast on FM107.1 "Living Life Out Loud.”
